VENDOR SHOWCASE: Allison & Andrea
This week we are chatting with Allison Kelly from the musical duo Allison & Andrea!
Tell us a little about yourself...
I’ve been making music my whole life. It’s been my one constant through struggle, change, growth, joy, heartbreak, achievement and setback. I studied trombone at UPEI and graduated in 2012 with a BA in Music. Since then, I have been mainly focused on singing and playing the ukulele. I am a proud member of Sirens-PEI's award-winning women’s choral ensemble (www.sirenschoir.com) and am so excited to launch my most recent passion project, Allison & Andrea.
How long have you been performing?:
Andrea Ellis and I formed our duo in mid 2015 when we realized our mutual passion for intricate harmonies and a desire to explore our favourite songs in an acoustic, folk style.
What inspired you to share your art?:
I had the privilege of participating in the HIVE Cultural Entrepreneurship Incubator put together by Culture PEI in October 2016. The business savvy I gained through this program gave me the confidence I needed to approach my music as a career.
What is your favourite part of working in the wedding industry?:
Weddings are such a beautiful expression of love, and to be able to provide the soundtrack to that moment is so powerful. The music you choose will dictate the tone and ambiance of your ceremony. We are so excited to work with you to create the feeling you want, whether that be romantic, playful, cute, passionate, kooky, or sweet!
What is the next step in your career?:
2017 will mark our second wedding season and the hope is to grow awareness of our musicality and professionalism within the Island community.
