Styled Shoot -- Staging the Carriage House

Last September, Chelsea reached out to me as she and her husband had purchased an art gallery in New London, which they were renovating and turning into a wedding venue. Of course I was SO excited to hear! She was looking for someone to help them stage the barn so they could have some photos taken for their website, social media and general marketing needs. Immediately I thought, “Fresh blood for a styled shoot!!” So I gathered some event partner friends and we put it together in a couple of weeks.

Fun fact - these photos were taken of the barn when very little of the renovations had actually even been done to this side. If you turned around from the area we staged, you would find walls covered in plywood that was painted yellow, and the hardwood floors had been painted over as well. But nonetheless, I could see Chelsea’s vision and I was happy to be a part of seeing this venue come to life. It just goes to show you - when it comes to styled shoots, we can take very little and make it look like a lot!

*Important to note, The Carriage House has actually since white washed the interior walls so these photos are actually obsolete, it doesn’t look like this anymore! We are in the process of planning our next shoot there to unveil the renovations to the world, but we’re waiting until COVID-19 dies down a bit!

Knowing that these photos would likely be used on their website for years (until they decided they were painting it!) we wanted to keep things relatively neutral, clean, on current trends and nothing that would make it feel over the top - I wanted couples to be able to look at the photos and picture how they could put their on twist on the space!

This property is large, beautiful, homey, welcoming, elegant, unique and offers many different photo locations that we didn’t even cover! What you see here are the main barn and Carriage House both staged for a ceremony as well as one of the outdoor ceremony options overlooking the water.  If you rotate the set up slightly, there is another gorgeous water view in the other direction! The property also has some other cute buildings that have since been renovated to allow both parties to get ready on-site - they’ve done so much work, I can’t wait for everyone to see! Stay tuned for a blog about a mini-shoot we did there as well as the recap of the one that is being planned!
